Our story

Why we built Strathlon, what the name actually means, and why it was tested on one person — its founder — for months before anyone else ever saw it.

Why "Strathlon"?

The name blends three words we wanted the product to stand for: Strength, Athletics and Longevity.

Strength is the training core — proper resistance work, periodised through real phases. Athletics is the sport-specific layer on top of that foundation — if you play a sport, your plan tunes itself to it, across 38 of them; if you don't, the same solid training and nutrition works just as well without it. Longevity is the point of all of it — training and eating in a way that holds up for years, not a 30-day crash.

Built by its own guinea pig

Strathlon started as a personal problem. Earlier this year I took some genuine time away from a demanding career — my first real break in years — and the honest truth is my own fitness had slipped. After years playing cricket to a decent standard, the last couple of seasons had quietly got away from me. Getting back into it was a big part of why I stepped back at all.

So I built myself a proper plan — training I'd actually stick to, with the calories and macros to match — and then I became the guinea pig. Using nothing but my own app, I've gone from 82.7 kg to 78.5 kg — a steady, sustainable pace, no crash diet — training three days a week around my own dodgy knee and hip, with visibly more muscle definition, including my abs, and I'm back playing cricket feeling fitter and more durable than I have in years. Every feature in Strathlon exists because I needed it first — it was tested on me long before it reached anyone else.

Built for anyone, tuned further if you play a sport

The more I used it, the more I kept asking: why is there no single app that handles proper training and nutrition together, in one place, for anyone — not just people chasing a specific sport?

My wife was one of the very first people to try it, from day one. She doesn't play a sport at all — she just wanted a straightforward training and nutrition plan she'd actually stick to — and she's lost 6 kg over a similar stretch. That's Strathlon working exactly as it should for someone with no sport-specific need whatsoever: solid general training, nutrition that matches her real day, nothing about it assuming she's training for a match.

The sport-specific side still matters — I kept watching lads at the cricket club pick up injuries that were largely preventable, and that shaped how the training adapts around real injuries. But that's a layer on top of a genuinely good general fitness and nutrition app, not the whole point of it.

That's Strathlon: an AI coach for training and nutrition, made for iPhone.
