Training and eating with your cycle

10 July 2026 · 5 min read

Your body doesn't respond the same way every week of the month, so Strathlon can adapt to your menstrual cycle if you'd like it to. This is entirely your choice. There's no single switch that turns "cycle mode" on — instead there are four separate opt-ins, each independent, so you turn on only the parts that suit you and leave the rest alone.

Strathlon cycle-aware insights settings with four opt-ins

Four opt-ins, all in your control

In your settings you'll find four cycle-aware options. They're separate on purpose — each one does its own thing, and each is off until you choose to switch it on:

Turn on all four, one of them, or none. Whatever you pick, you can change it again at any time.

How it adapts to you

As you move through your cycle phases, Strathlon can quietly adjust two things and surface a third. It can nudge your nutrition targets, and it can shift the emphasis of your training — both to match the way your body tends to respond at different points in the month. Alongside that, cycle insights offer short, plain-English notes so you understand what's happening rather than just seeing numbers change.

All of this works from your cycle tracking, including data you already keep in Apple Health. The more consistent your tracking, the better it can line the adjustments up with where you actually are.

What your cycle data is used for

This is the part that matters most. Your dates, your flow, your symptoms and your period history are used on your device, to work out the adjustments described above. What can and can't move off your phone is set out in full on our Privacy page (section 4A).

Two things can leave, and only because you asked them to. The first is the general phase word: switch on cycle-aware AI coaching and your coach is told something like "pre-menstrual" — one word, never a date, a flow level, a symptom or your history.

The second is easy to miss, so we'd rather say it plainly. If you switch on the pre-period ease — the option that adds about 100 kcal to your target in the days before your period — then your coach sees that adjusted target, because it's the same target the rest of the app is showing you. It also gets a short note saying the target was deliberately adjusted, so it doesn't read the extra calories as a slip and try to correct you. What it does not get is the reason — unless you've also switched on the phase share above.

So: with both switched off, neither of those two things is sent. With them on, it's a phase word and a calorie number — not your diary.

What's included, and what's premium

Cycle-aware nutrition, cycle-aware training and cycle insights are part of the app. Cycle-aware AI coaching is a premium opt-in, alongside the rest of your AI Coach. As with everything here, it's yours to enable only if and when you want it.

A note on how this is built: this is designed to adapt to you, not to track or judge you. You can turn any part off at any time, and nothing about your cycle ever leaves your phone unless you choose to switch on coaching. It's there to work quietly in your corner — never to keep score.
